Recall of Two GRF Directors

This is not the KAA official position and it is an opinion of the PC club of Laguna Woods

Dear members and friends of the PC Club,

The Third Board of Directors has submitted a resolution to recall Directors, Jim Hopkins and Yvonne Horton, who serve on the Golden Rain Foundation ( GRF ) Board of Directors. Jim Hopkins is the President of that board. The recall vote by the corporate boards (Third, United, and Mutual 50) is scheduled for September 5, 2024.

Jim Hopkins and Yvonne Horton are both friends of the PC Club, and they have supported all the clubs.  It appears that the reason for this recall could be related to the Ad Hoc Building E Space Planning Committee and subsequent vote by the GRF Board on the committee’s recommendations. We will not know the reason for sure until the September 5th meeting, which is too late.

It was Jim Hopkins’ plan that was approved by GRF and prevented our eviction from the third floor of the Community Center, at least for now.

The two Directors have contributed to major decisions that have benefited our entire community in multiple ways, and the question remains: why are they being recalled? This divisive recall will cost us money and it will have a negative impact on our entire community now and in the future.

Disagreements should be handled by open discussions and dialog, not by recalls.

If you agree, please come by the PC Club Workshop from 10 to 4 Monday through Friday and sign a petition against recalling these two GRF directors.

If you would like to help in gathering signatures from your friends and neighbors, click here for a copy of the petition. Signers must be residents/owners of Laguna Woods Village.

Sincerely and respectfully,

J. R. Davis

PC Club President
